A Lancashire pie producer has launched new messages on its labels.
Holland's Pies, which has been producing pies, puddings and pastries in the region for 155 years, will now feature 'British beef guaranteed' labels on its products to re-assure customers of the region.
The move comes after the horse meat scandal back in March when traces of horsemeat were found in 'beef' products in stores such as Tesco, Asda and Aldi.
The news left customers of the stores horrified. The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, which is a watchdog for buyers and the procurement industry also said at the time that supermarkets had fallen 'woefully short' in the management of their supply chains, according to telegraph.co.uk.
Talking about the new labels, a spokesperson for Holland's Pies told meatinfo.co.uk: "In recent months, it has become apparent that there is an increased focus on British-farmed products. We wanted to ensure our customers know that Holland's beef products are made with 100 per cent British Beef."
The statement continued: By clearly demonstrating a 'British beef guarantee message on-pack, we believe that this will give shoppers confidence in our products."
The new messages on the labels will appear on the brands products this month, including its fresh and frozen beef products.
