Our Guide To Metal Nameplates
Guides
We manufacture a huge variety of Metal Nameplates, from a range of metals and processes depending on your application, environment and durability requirements. Our in depth guide explains everything you need to know about Metal Nameplates.
What is a Metal Nameplate?
All our Metal Nameplates are bespoke – so they can be any size, shape and display any design. But typically a Metal Nameplate is rectangle in shape, made from a common metal and is used to display information in the form of text and graphics. There are many applications they can be used for across a whole host of industries.
What materials can a Metal Nameplate be made from?
Most metals can be used to make Metal Nameplates, the most popular are stainless steel and aluminium but we can manufacture them from brass, copper and bronze too. We can achieve good results on most finishes too, depending on the process you go for. Although we are talking about metal nameplates, we can also make nameplates from wood and plastics such as laminates which can be engraved or laser marked.
How do we make Metal Nameplates?
We have five process available for creating metal nameplates, depending on the finish you are after;
- Digital Anoprint – full colour CMYK print encapsulated within a sealed aluminium, durable and versatile.
- Chemical Etching – creating a depth which can be left natural or infilled with traditional enamel or digitally.
- Laser Marking – fast and accurate, this permanent process can be used to add variable data too.
- General Engraving – traditional and versatile, this engraving method can achieve depth and detail.
- Digital Print – surface print any design to almost any material, with the additions of white and varnish.
All our metal nameplates are precision laser cut using camera registration, ensuring a clean bur free and accurate finish on every single plate.
Can you put variable data on your Metal Nameplates?
We can offer a wide range of variable data options – this can be applied using the following processes; laser marking, digital anoprint, digital print and chemical etching.
- 2D Barcodes
- QR Codes and Data Matrix
- Serial Numbers
- Part Numbers
- Sequential Numbers
- Personalisation
How do you fix a Metal Nameplate?
We offer two standard options for fixing your metal nameplate, this is either fixing holes or adhesive. You will need to specify the size and location of your fixing holes, we do not supply fixings such as screws unless specifically asked to source. We can recommend the best adhesive for your application and surface you wish to apply the nameplate to.
On request we are able to provide nameplates with countersunk holes and other bespoke types of fixings if required – our finishing department is equipped to tackle most requests.
What industries should use metal nameplates?
We cater for any industry that has a requirement for Metal Nameplates. Our range of in-house processes and expertise allows us to accommodate almost every requirement. We have manufactured nameplates for the Defence sector which require stringent quality control procedures to a series of Orchard nameplates with each individual double sided plate displaying the name of the fruit. As well as bespoke motor engine and gearbox replica nameplates, made to match the original exactly.
