Watch engraving celebrates 'The Dark Knight Rises' release

01st August 2012 - Fine Cut

A new watch launched to coincide with the release of 'The Dark Knight Rises' has celebrated its association with the film via an engraving.

The motion picture represents the final piece in British director Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. According to superyachts.com, Bruce Wayne - played by Christian Bale - wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Date timepiece, which is now on general sale.

It features a precision engraving of the bat-shield on the back of the timepiece, which can be turned around to either have the clockface or engraving facing outwards.

This is not the first time that Jaeger-LeCoultre has been associated with Batman. The brand first featured in 'Batman Forever' with Val Kilmer sporting one of the company's watches, which also featured the superhero's logo on the back.

Nolan's trilogy has been a huge success, both commercially and critically, but the filmmaker has so far maintained that he will not make another one. Guardian.co.uk film blogger Charles Grant noted that the film has taken £30.55 million over ten days in the UK after racking up a second weekend total of £7.28 million at the box office.

"The Christopher Nolan picture is now undisputably the fastest grossing film of 2012, since 'Avengers Assemble' took 12 days to cross the £30 million barrier. Four years ago, 'The Dark Knight' took 15 days to achieve that sum," added Mr Grant.
