The importance of pharmaceutical labelling is likely to be on the agenda at an event taking place early next year focusing on packaging and delivery in the medical industry.
Pharmapack Europe, taking place in Paris in February 2014, will be attended by over 300 exhibitors from over 70 countries, with the event focusing on the theme of compliance and safety in 2014.
A panel of experts will present four themed sessions to discuss issues such as packaging for liquid pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper drug use and patient safety, materials and sustainability of future packaging, and drug delivery combination products.
Event manager of Pharmapack Europe Aurore Domange described the event as a "showcase for technology and an incubator for innovations in packaging and drug delivery for healthcare products". adding that key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry will be able to discuss the "trends and innovations of the future" and how they can solve problems faced by patients, carers and manufacturers of medications.
Clear and concise labelling is a key part of any new pharmaceutical packaging solution, as it helps ensure patient safety by preventing incorrect medication being administered, as well as enabling carers and hospital staff to easily keep track of stocks.
Liquid and injectable treatments are expected to see a boom in the coming year - they account for approximately 80 per cent of healthcare products currently being developed - and Ms Domange said delivery systems for these new products "represent a market that is growing strongly and driving innovation forward".
In addition to looking at new innovations in the drug delivery industry and improving compliance, the conference will also provide attendees with a comprehensive look at recent and upcoming regulatory changes, new market trends and new techniques for reducing costs and the environmental impact of drug delivery.
