Businesses operating in the automotive industry are among the busiest in the world - and the recent economic improvements in the UK have had a significant impact on activity in this sector.
As recovery speeds up following the financial crisis, confidence among consumers is on a steady path of improvement - meaning people are more likely to make lavish purchases on homes and cars.
This marked advancement has been good news for vehicle manufacturers around the UK, picking many firms up from near-closure and ensuring they have more optimistic prospects going into the future.
Higher domestic demand
October saw a significant rise in car manufacture in the UK, with output rising by 17.4 per cent to 160,854 units during the 31-day period, representing the largest monthly increase so far in 2013.
Data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) also revealed that production for the home market saw a considerable upturn in October, rising to 52.4 per cent during this period. In addition, export growth was strong at 11.4 per cent.
The rising demand for cars on home shores demonstrates the strength of the economy at the moment, as individuals across the country become increasingly confident about their financial future.
Mike Hawes, chief executive of the SMMT, said: "UK car manufacturing for the home market increased strongly in October raising the year’s performance 26.6 per cent ahead of 2012.
"More than 15 brands build 50-plus models of car across the UK with volume and niche offerings providing a wealth of choice for our home and export markets. With European demand showing early signs of recovery, we expect production to continue positively in the coming months."
A reminder for firms
