Formation

Fine Cut Precision Ltd formed when four employees from J.W. Blewett organization took over the engraving and hot foil departments when the company ceased trading.

1982

First building

The business is setup in 1500 sq.ft unit in Southwick, West Sussex, focusing on general engraving, bookbinding tools and foil printing.

1985

Quick Growth

Following quick growth, the business moves to larger premises on Churchill Estate in Lancing, West Sussex.

1988

Fine Screen Ltd

After entry into the labels and nameplates industry, a separate business – Fine Screen Ltd – is formed focusing on the production of screenprinted labels, graphic overlays and membrane switch panels. The business occupies its own 3000 sq.ft factory on the same business park.

1991

The expansion

Expansion into the supply of rotary foiling heads and cutters for the roll form label industry prompts the formation of Fine Cut UK Ltd to act as sole agents for overseas companies in that industry. Production of brass foiling cylinders on manual engraving machines commences.

Fine Cut International Ltd

Having established each company as a profitable entity, they are amalgamated to become Fine Cut International Ltd with the purpose of improving efficiency.

1995

More Machines

Following continued expansion in the label press supplies division, two new 4 axis 3D engraving machines are installed establishing Fine Cut’s manufacturing facilities as some of the most advanced in the UK’s label industry

1998

Moved to larger premises

With continued growth, it became essential to move once more to larger premises. Over Easter 1998 all company divisions relocated to newly renovated 21000 sq.ft factory just 100 yards down the road from the previous location, on the newly renamed ‘Lancing Business Park’. With the larger premises and “room to breathe” the business increased its product range and diversified its offering, penetrating new markets and industry sectors.

A renewed Focus

Label press tooling division sold to Universal Engraving Inc of Kansas, USA. The division continues as Fine Cut International Ltd and operates from same premise

The Birth of Fine Cut Graphic Imaging LTD

Screenprint, General Engraving, Foil Printing and Bookbinding Tools renamed Fine Cut Graphic Imaging Ltd. The company continues to invest heavily in cutting edge manufacturing facilities, further establishing itself as an advanced supplier to each sector.

Suite of new CNC engraving machines installed.

Engineering Division Established

Fine Cut Advanced Engineering division is established, providing high quality engineering solutions and specializing in the manufacture of rotational and EPS mould tools.

First 5 Axis CNC Machine

Following rapid growth, Fine Cut Advanced Engineering install their first 5 Axis CNC Machine to better service their customers and expand further into the supply of more complex 3D engineered products.

Royal Warrant Awarded

Following continued supply of high quality bookbinding tools to the Royal household, Fine Cut are awarded the prestigious Royal Warrant. Highly regarded as a mark of excellence and quality.

New Acquisitions

Fine Cut acquire competitors Clarke & MacKay, Valley Screenprint and Circuitape Ltd. All production is moved to the main Lancing premises and all companies are incorporated under the Fine Cut umbrella.

Following the acquisition of competitor companies, the business undergoes a complete branding exercise and new identity and brand is unveiled.

Labels Direct

After operating the well renowned Circuitape Ltd as a standalone division since its purchase in 2005, the decision is made to rebrand the company to Fine Cut Labels Direct and firmly bring the business under the wing of the overall company.

Website Overhaul

The company’s website gets a complete redesign and relaunches with a clean, fresh and modern style enhancing the brand and improving navigation for visitors to Fine Cut’s varied divisions.

2012

The UK's First SWISSQ Flatbed Printer

After extensive research, testing and travel across Europe, Fine Cut becomes the first UK print manufacturer to install a SwissQ digital flatbed printer. The highest quality flatbed printer on the market with a truly exceptional print finish.

Precision Metal & Plastic Laser Cutting

Once again, following extensive research and development, Fine Cut install the UK’s first large format Co2 laser for precision cutting of thin metals and plastics, including camera registration for cut to print applications.

Engineering Perfection

Fine Cut Advanced Engineering division install “the world’s most innovative portable measurement solution” – The Faro Arm. Revolutionising the way the engineers work and firmly establishing Fine Cut’s dedication to engineering excellence and precision manufacture.

New 5 axis capabilities

A further CMS 5 Axis CNC Machine is installed in Fine Cut Advanced Engineering, specifically designed to allow the division to diversify its offering and extend its penetration into high precision industries such as F1 motorsport and aerospace.

Premises redesign

Complete renovation & expansion of the corporate offices take place, with a huge new mezzanine floor and redesign throughout. The addition of state of the art vertical carousel filing system improves efficiency across the business.

The future of Fine Cut

Following continued growth and investment state of the art manufacturing equipment for division, its decided each division is a specialist company in its own right, so the company is rebranded to Fine Cut Group, a new website is launched and individual identities created for each of the groups specialist divisions – Labels & Nameplates, Overlays & Membranes, Laser & Engraving, Advanced Engineering, and Bookbinding Tools.

NEW ACQUISITION

Fine Cut Group acquire Dragonfly Design Ltd, the leading supplier of customised Rally Plates, Event Badges and Regalia. Dragonfly Design have been the market leaders for over 30 years, and we are pleased to have their team incorporated with Fine Cut.
